Tamarind Fish Stew
A comforting fish stew with a tangy tamarind gravy, aromatic spices and fresh cucumber. Jeeny’s Tamarind Puree gives the dish its signature sour and savoury flavour, making it perfect to enjoy with steamed rice.

Ingredients
- Fish, cut into pieces, 3–4 tbsp cooking oil, 5 shallots, 3 cloves garlic, 2 inches ginger, 1 tomato, 6–7 bird’s eye chilies, 1½ tbsp Jeeny’s Tamarind Puree, 1 medium cucumber, Salt and sugar to taste

1.Clean and cut the fish into suitable pieces.

2.Blend or finely chop the shallots, garlic, ginger, tomato and bird’s eye chilies.

3.Heat oil and sauté the blended mixture until fragrant and the oil begins to separate.

4.Add Jeeny’s Tamarind Puree and stir well.

5.Pour in about 300 ml water and bring to a gentle boil.

6.Season with salt and sugar.

7.Add the fish and cook for about 8–10 minutes, or until fully cooked.

8.Add sliced cucumber and cook for another 1–2 minutes.

9.Serve hot with rice.
